14.8 through 65 SCFM: Mattei's BLADE Series sets a new standard for small, quiet commercial-duty air compressors. Engineered to produce lots of air while consuming up to 20% less energy than rotary screw type compressors, small air users can finally get their last air compressor first. Each BLADE combines our legendary vane technology with a dual “V” belt transmission inside a sleek powder coated cabinet at very affordable prices.
The design and operation of BLADE compressors ensures the correct operating temperature is quickly and effectively reached to prevent condensation from forming in the system to extend operating life. Incredibly quiet (as low as 61 dB(A)), with speeds as low as 1,050 rpm (2-6X slower than screws) and operating pressures to 175 psi: The BLADE is the ideal solution for small body shops, mechanical shops, craftsmen and workshops.
Our base-mounted version allows you to use existing air receiver tanks. The tank-mounted version features the BLADE 4 - 11 Series, mounted onto an 80-gallon ASME air receiver. Includes pressure gauge, safety valve, and manual tank drain valve.
The BLADE SE Quality Air Station version includes moisture separator with intelligent drain, 1.0 micron prefilter, refrigerated air dryer sized for summer heat, all mounted and piped onto an 80-gallon horizontal ASME air tank.
The BLADE DUPLEX version features two (2) identical BLADE air compressors with moisture separator with intelligent drain, and expansion module with real time clock for automatic lead/lag operation, all mounted and piped onto an 120-gallon horizontal ASME grasshopper air tank.

HEAVY-DUTY BELT-DRIVEN TRANSMISSION
BLADE uses dual “V” belts engineered to last 3 years to drive the compressor at some of the slowest speeds in the industry. Our exclusive belt tensioning system is simple and ensures perfect alignment for long belt life. This design helps us to deliver the energy saving performance of our industrial class machines to smaller applications and at very affordable prices.
INHERENTLY QUIET
BLADE Series compressors are housed in a powder coat painted stainless steel cabinet. The slow rotating speeds of our vane technology deliver sound levels as low as 61 dB(A).
RELIABLE ROTARY VANE AIRENDS
BLADE features our proprietary single-rotor stator unit (RSU) that incorporates our legendary white metal Babbitt bush on the back and now an oversized radial ball bearing on the front to address the side load created by the belts. Mattei's BLADE compressors are engineered for 24 hours a day service with our exclusive Meehanite® iron blades designed to last 100,000 hours.
CAPACITY CONTROLS ADAPT TO YOUR DEMANDS
The layout and design of every air system is different. Thus, Mattei provides you with two control schemes Automatic or Continuous modes as standard to better adapt to the demands and dynamics of your system. In both cases, intake air is controlled via the output of “high” and “low” set points on a preset pressure switch. A solenoid valve responds to fully open (Load) the intake valve at the low point, and then fully close (Unload) the intake air valve at the high point. This maintains line pressure within the design pressure range.
AUTOMATIC MODE
Automatic mode is ideal for systems with fluctuating air demands and/or plenty of air storage. It allows the compressor to automatically start and stop the motor to match intermittent air demands.
CONTINUOUS MODE
Continuous mode is ideal for applications with heavy air demands where the compressor is under heavy loads. In this case, it is best to run the motor constantly until you decide to turn it off.
PREMIUM EFFICIENCY MOTOR
BLADE models are equipped with premium efficient totally enclosed fan cooled TEFC electric motors as standard.

Full voltage motor is standard.
LUBRICANT
Benefit from our long-life all synthetic Rotoroil 8000 F2 lubricant.
AIR TREATMENT
Built-in Air cooled aftercooler with 18°F approach temperature.
MAINTENANCE
All components are easily accessible for fast easy maintenance. Annual maintenance operations only include changing the filters and oil at predetermined intervals. Oil and Separator filters are spin-on style. Long life belts are engineered for 3 years. Inexpensive parts and oil combine with long operating intervals to deliver significant savings over the life of the machine.
BLADE SERIES OPTIONAL FEATURES:
AUTOMATIC CONDENSATE DRAIN AND SEPARATOR KIT
The kit is composed of a condensate separator and a timed electronic drain.
BLADE SE QUALITY AIR STATION
Our BLADE SE Quality Air Station provides you with an intelligent moisture separator with auto-drain, 1.0 micron prefilter, and a properly sized refrigerated air dryer to combat summer heat—all mounted and piped onto an 80-gallon air receiver.
MAESTRO XB EXPANSION MODULE
It allows the remote signaling of on/off controls by means of volt free contacts and hourly programming. If more compressors are connected (max. 4), it allows the sequence management.
AIR TREATMENT PRODUCTS
Mattei offers comprehensive air treatment accessories to complete your air system including: in-line coalescing filters, refrigerated air dryers, desiccant air dryers, sterile in-line filters, air receiver tanks, timer and demand style condensate drains, and oil/water condensate separators. |
